Christian TV station OHTV is proving a hit with a wide range of viewers. ONE MAN aiming to change the face of religious television is Akin Salami. He serves as CEO of one of the UK's most innovative Christian TV stations OH TV.
Launched on the SKY platform in 2008, and owned by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the station is unique in that it features more than just the religious ministry programmes and music shows.
OHTV broadcasts provide a wide range of entertaining, wholesome programmes, that are not necessarily religious in the hope of appealing to a broad range of people.
Sharing the reasoning behind this new approach to religious TV Akin stated, "OH TV was launched in June 2008 with a mandate to deliver the good news to people who would not ordinarily tune in to a channel in the religious genre on the SKY satellite platform. Public acceptance was initially slow, as our proposition as a channel has never been offered in the UK."
He continued, "Our programming has come a long way and we get very encouraging emails and notes on our website every day. We are now known for what we refer to as ethical programming."
